I love creating houses and seeing what I can fill each room and what could be more perfect that a house perfectly decorated for the Christmas season. I have to say that my normal colour choice are icy whites, silvers and blues but for this I have stepped outside my comfort zone and used pink to coordinate with the Mintay Papers and the main pad that co-ordinates with them from last years release.
I made up my house from a kit and painted the outside with pink crackle paint. The inside of each compartment was lined with papers from my chosen paper pad using the frames from the cut apart sheet to provide a focal point on the back wall of each space.
The furniture was made using a large number of separate mdf kits. Once assembled the mdf was painted with a combination of pink and gold.
I then filled each space with furniture and decorated each room using papers from the pad to make sheets and pillows for the bed, tablecloths for the tables and cushions for the chairs - added dimension for the soft furnishings was made by wrapping my paper pieces around a couple of layers of foamiran off cuts - nothing needs to go to waste.
I created flower boxes using paper pieces and then filled them with moss and tiny flowers cut out from paper scraps. I added foliage to vases made from wooden beads to the clock and mantelpiece. The tiny cookie cutters, deer and trees came from my own stash.
I had great fun making this piece and will treasure it for many years to come. I am sure if you do make one it will become a much loved family heirloom so why not try something new for your Christmas this year, it might just be the perfect present for someone who has everything they need and says I don't know what I want when you ask them.
